The wife of a poor tenant farmer in the Korean countryside is seduced by her rapacious landlord, who lures her to the water mill each night. Her husband glimpses them together, and confronts the pair with his sickle in hand. Lee’s mastery of the widescreen frame helps relate the story of a jealousy and murder with vibrant backgrounds and moving camera angles.
