Guest Jurors for Short Film competition program, New York Korean Film Festival 2008 Michael Kang Filmmaker Michael Kang made his directorial debut with The Motel, an independent feature that premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. The film went on to win the Humanitas Prize, a nomination for “Best First Feature” at the Independent Spirit awards, and top jury prizes from the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, the San Diego Asian Film Festival and the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Kang’s second feature, West 32nd, was screened at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival.
John Mhiripiri Director of Administration and Exhibitions Anthology Film Archives John Mhiripiri is the director of administration and exhibitions at the Anthology Film Archives in New York City. He also serves as the director of the Temenos Archive and is on the board of directors of the Film-Makers’ Cooperative. Mhiripiri has sat on numerous film and media-grant panels and film-festival juries, including the Student Academy Awards.
Cindi Rowell Producer New Yorker Films Cindi Rowell is a producer for New Yorker Films, and is currently working on DVD development for Hong Sang-soo’s upcoming Woman on the Beach. Rowell began her career in film at the Museum of Modern Art and the George Eastman House. She came to New Yorker Films after stints with the Philadelphia Festival of World Cinema and Milestone Film and Video.
Bill Woods Programmer New Filmmakers Series at Anthology Film Archives
A native New Yorker, Bill Woods began FilmFest Reloaded, Staten Island’s first weekly independent film series, in 2001. Since 2005, Woods has curated and hosted the New Filmmakers series every Wednesday night at Anthology Film Archives.
